Chaotic inflation and a radiatively generated intermediate scale in the supersymmetric standard model

چکیده
We consider a phenomenological extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model which incorporates chaotic inflation and a radiatively generated intermediate mass scale. Initially a period of chaotic inflation is driven by a quartic potential associated with the right-handed electron sneutrino. Supersymmetry relates the quartic coupling of the inflationary potential to the electron Majorana neutrino Yukawa coupling, h1. The microwave background temperature anisotropy determines this coupling to be h1 ≃ 10−7, which is similar in magnitude to the electron Dirac Yukawa coupling. A U(1) Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry is broken by radiative corrections at an intermediate scale ≃ 1012GeV when the universe cools to a temperature T . 103GeV. This leads to an invisible axion, a weak scale μ-term and an electron Majorana neutrino mass MN1 ≃ 105GeV. A second inflationary period can also occur via a flat-direction field. In this case the universe can be reheated to a temperature TRH ≃ 106GeV, without restoring PQ symmetry. Baryogenesis will then occur via out-of-equilibrium neutrino decay. Generating curvature perturbations with MSSM flat directions
We consider the possibility that chaotic inflation is driven by a Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) flat direction or a sneutrino. The discrepancy between our present study and past studies is in the mechanism for generating the curvature perturbations. We consider curvature perturbations generated by instant preheating at the end of inflation, instead of a conventional curvature per...
متن کاملImplications for Minimal Supersymmetry from Grand Unification and the Neutralino Relic Abundance
We examine various predictions of the minimal supersymmetric standard model coupled to minimal supergravity. The model is characterised by a small set of parameters at the unification scale. The supersymmetric particle spectrum at low energy and the spontaneous breaking of the standard model itself are then generated radiatively. The previously considered predictions of the model now include th...
متن کاملIntermediate Scale Supersymmetric Inflation , Matter and Dark Energy
We consider supersymmetric inflation models in which inflation occurs at an intermediate scale and which provide a solution to the µ problem and the strong CP problem. Such models are particularly attractive since inflation, baryogenesis and the relic abundance of cold dark matter are all related by a set of parameters which also affect particle physics collider phenomena, neutrino masses and t...
متن کاملHybrid Inflation Followed by Modular Inflation
Inflationary models with a superheavy scale F-term hybrid inflation followed by an intermediate scale modular inflation are considered. The restrictions on the power spectrum PR of curvature perturbation and the spectral index ns from the recent data within the power-law cosmological model with cold dark matter and a cosmological constant can be met provided that the number of e-foldings NHI∗ s...
متن کاملHiggs inflation, reheating and gravitino production in no-scale Supersymmetric GUTs
We extend our previous study of supersymmetric Higgs inflation in the context of no-scale supergravity and grand unification, to include models based on the flipped SU(5) and the Pati-Salam group. Like the previous SU(5) GUT model, these yield a class of inflation models whose inflation predictions interpolate between those of the quadratic chaotic inflation and Starobinsky-like inflation, whil...
